All the Women-Directed Films You Can Stream in April 2019 on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Beyond

April 2019 feels like a strong month for streaming services on the #directedbywomen front, with services like Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu, Shudder, and beyond welcoming over 19 titles to their on-demand libraries. High points include Shudder bringing Swiss director Lisa Brühlmann's unnerving coming-of-age mermaid tale BLUE MY MIND into households everywhere (I was sad to miss that one at Fantastic Fest two years ago), as well as Netflix premiering an original romantic comedy by Jennifer Kaytin, SOMEONE GREAT, starring Gina Rodriguez, Brittany Snow, DeWanda Wise, and Rosario Dawson. My dueling Jenny Lewis and Jenny Shimizu obsessions will inevitably mean I'll finally be watching Annette Haywood-Carter's FOXFIRE for the first time, and I'll also take the time to watch Sarah Polley's STORIES WE TELL (one I've been meaning to catch for years). Also, if you didn't see Karyn Kusama's DESTROYER during its theatrical run late last year, that one will be on Hulu come April 1.
