Every Woman-Directed Film Added to Streaming Sites for October

Welcome to my October roundup of women-directed films being added to Amazon Prime, Criterion Channel, Hulu, and Netflix. A couple of quick recommendations right off the top… First, it's great seeing pioneering independent director Shirley Clarke's work being highlighted over on the Criterion Channel this month: The site will be streaming essential features like The Connection and Portrait of Jason, in addition to a lineup of shorts by the NYC filmmaker. Over on Amazon Prime, if you missed it in theaters earlier this year, you've got a chance to see Claire Denis's uniquely disturbing intergalactic film High Life. Hulu's offering up Lizzie Borden's 1992 thriller Love Crimes (starring my personal fave, Sean Young), and Netflix will be adding Nigerian director Omoni Oboli's comedy-drama Moms at War.
PS, if it's scares you're after, stay tuned… My roundup of streamable horror films directed by women drops later this week.
